Domestic. The Ungsvenskarna, the youth association of the Sweden Democrats, has invited Center students to a conversation and lunch – but gets the nob, reports The Swedish Daily.
The invitation comes after Centerstudenter’s chairman Rasmus Elfström opened a dialogue with SD in an interview.
The Center Party’s leadership has previously expressed dissociation from SD, but Center Students’ new line is now provoking fierce debate within the party.
Denice Westerberg, chairman of Ungsvenskarna, expresses joy at Centerstudenter’s initiative and sees opportunities to discuss common issues such as rural policy.
For the lunch menu, she suggests “a proper piece of meat”.
– Unlike many similar lunches where you usually get vegetarian salads, which I’m a bit tired of, they can get a proper piece of meat, says Denice Westerberg to SvD.
Center students’ chairman Rasmus Elfström, however, declines the lunch.
“We distance ourselves from their views and politics. Meeting more parties in a parliamentary democracy is not the same as having lunch with youth representatives,” he says in a written comment to SvD.
