iOS 18.0.1 is out
Today, Apple sent the first update of the new iOS 18 to iPhones, namely iOS 18.0.1 partial version. It is already available in our region, and definitely do not delay its installation, as it fixes several minor bugs as well as more serious security breaches. Apple released the first iOS 18 update just a few hours ago, and the update is already available in our region. Along with it, an update with the same numerical composition also arrived for the sister system iPadOS 18 for iPad tablets. The update itself is relatively small and the file intended for download is not even 500 MB (more precisely 478.2 MB), so downloading it is really a matter of time.
Highlights of the iOS 18.0.1 update
- Fix temporarily unresponsive touch screen (iPhone 16 a 16 Pro)
- Fix for occasional freezing of the photo app when shooting 4K videos with the ultra-wide-angle camera with HDR turned off and macro mode active (iPhone 16 Pro)
- Fixed unexpected shutdown of the Messages app when replying to a message with a shared Apple Watch watch face
- Fixed a memory allocation issue that could cause performance degradation

Security fixes
In addition to fixing the aforementioned problems, Apple also fixed two security holes in iOS 18.0.1. One of them is the iPhone 16’s access to the microphone, and the other is access to the Passcode app on all supported iPhones and also iPads. For the first issue, the microphone may have recorded a few seconds of audio before the microphone trigger indicator was activated.
An issue with the Passwords app involved VoiceOver being able to read a user’s saved passwords out loud on iPhones and iPads. This issue affected iPhone XS and later, iPad Pro with 13-inch and 12.9-inch displays (3rd generation and later), iPad Pro 11 (first generation and later), iPad Air (3rd generation and later), iPad classic (7 . generation and later) and iPad Mini (from 5th generation).
Don’t delay in downloading iOS 18.0.1
Definitely don’t delay installing the new iOS 18.0.1 and install it as soon as your iPhone notifies you about it. If the update hasn’t popped up yet, you can check for it manually. Just go to your phone settings, select General and then find Software Update.
