iCloud-Bug
Notes appear to disappear after an iCloud update in iOS 18. What is behind it and how can you solve the problem?
With the introduction of iOS 18, the notes app has received new functions. For example, you can have the app solve handwritten invoices. But some iPhone users are encountering an unexpected problem: their notes in Apple’s own app have suddenly disappeared.
The cause appears to lie in the new iCloud terms of use that Apple recently introduced as part of the transition from Apple ID to the “Apple Account”. According to user reports, the synchronization of notes seems to stop immediately after accepting the new terms of use.
The problem is not limited to a specific country or language settings but occurs worldwide. However, it cannot be determined how many users are affected. The Notes app often just shows a blank view after agreeing to the new terms. However, the data is still available in iCloud. Only the comparison on the iPhone seems to be disturbed.
Restart synchronization
So the solution is to manually restart the notes synchronization. The necessary workaround describes something like: Macrumors. To do this, you need to go to the iCloud settings on your iPhone. You can find this in the Settings app if you tap your name (i.e. your Apple account management) at the top. In the iCloud settings you then have to deactivate the “Notes” option and then reactivate it after a few seconds. It may then take a few minutes for the notes to be restored.
What exactly causes the problem is not known. There is no statement from Apple yet.
