iPad 11: Apple is probably planning a new entry-level iPad with A17 Pro chip

News from Cupertino

The new iPad 11 is scheduled to appear next year. Probably even sooner than expected. There are now rumors about the SoC for this Apple tablet.

Apple is apparently about to release a new version of its iPad – i.e. the device without Pro or Air added. According to reports from the platform 9to5Mac The iPad 11 is expected to come onto the market at the same time as iPadOS 18.3. The software update is traditionally expected at the end of January, which also speaks for the launch of the tablet.

The new iPad could score points with some very interesting innovations. In addition to the powerful A17 Pro chip, which is already built into the current iPad mini, it will also have Apple’s own WiFi and 5G modem for the first time.

There was already speculation about this hardware last year, which will now apparently be used in the iPad 11 and the upcoming iPhone SE 4. Previously, Apple relied on third-party hardware from Qualcomm for these components.

iPadOS 18.3, which is currently available as a beta for developers, does not offer any major innovations at first glance. Nevertheless, the fact that the iPad 11 is equipped with the A17 Pro chip signals that the basic model could also be more focused on Apple Intelligence applications.
