iPhone 16: Apple publishes repair instructions for all models

Special tools required

A few days after the release of the iPhone 16, the repair instructions are also available. Apple shows some changes to the iPhone scheme; however, the smartphones are still only partially repairable for laypeople.

The iPhone 16 series was officially released a few days ago. Just in time for the release of the smartphone, manufacturer Apple has now released the corresponding Repair instructions released, which apply to both the regular iPhone 16 and the Plus and Pro (Max) models. Changes in the structure can also be seen compared to the predecessors.

As previously announced by Apple, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus use a new battery separation processwhich is intended to make replacing the battery easier. A 9-volt battery and a clamp are sufficient to loosen the adhesive securing the iPhone battery. The Pro models still have the usual adhesive tabs.

There is one change to be observed with regard to the battery of the iPhone 16 Pro: The battery is now fitted with a metal casing to improve heat management. This is probably Apple’s response to criticism of the iPhone 15 Pro (Max), which was said to have inadequate heat dissipation, especially shortly after its release last year.

Apart from that, however, it can be seen that iPhone models are still difficult to repair at home. Common repairs still require special tools that are expensive to buy – an example of this is replacing the battery, which requires a press when reinstalling the new component.
