iPhone 16 can be charged faster

It is not new that Apple is careless about sharing information about charging at the presentation of the latest iPhone series, and the exact details only become public later. Based on the certificate published on the Chinese social platform Weibo, Apple’s iPhone 16 devices announced on Monday already support up to 45W wired fast charging, so compared to the predecessor of the series, the speed of wired charging via USB-C connection has been increased by more than 50 percent.

All new iPhone 16 models were tested at 45 W in the measurements of the China Quality Certification Center, while the maximum value for the iPhone 15 series was 29 W. The already available 45 W charging of the iPhone 16 surpasses the 27 W capabilities of the Google Pixel 9 model, but it is on the same level as the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, these values still fall short of the 240W fast charging capabilities of phones from Chinese manufacturers, including Realme’s upcoming 320W fast charging technology.

The latest iPhones have also improved in wireless charging, as the latest MagSafe charger can deliver 25W when paired with a more powerful 30W network adapter. Previously, wireless charging worked according to the Qi standard, which supports 7.5W, this was doubled to 15W with Qi2 compatible chargers, the 25W speed available in the case of the iPhone 16 is an even greater improvement, but only the new MagSafe with chargers.

Qi2 compatible chargers can still be a good choice if the user is satisfied with charging his mobile phone at night – a 7.5W charger is also capable of this, so it is worth considering the new 25W MagSafe, which offers faster charging during the day would we really use it.
