Reports of the issue have been ongoing since the iPhone 16 Pro models were first released in September, and the issue persisted until this week. Unfortunately, iOS 18.0.1 and iOS 18.1 updates in beta phase do not solve the problem. The problem continues to occur to users even after installing the latest software.
The issue seems to occur randomly and the screen stops responding or becomes very slow to respond to touch input. The iPhone then does a quick reboot. There are also reports of iPhone restarting unexpectedly while in Standby Mode.
Some users who contacted Apple shortly after the new iPhones were released were able to receive replacement devices, but the problem recurred. Since almost all of the complaints are about the iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max, it may only be the Pro models that are affected.
In some cases, doing a fresh install and not reinstalling from iCloud backup seems to fix the problem. Therefore, it is also possible that the problem is related to iCloud.
