The new iPhone 16 Proon which Apple had the rosiest expectations, it is not performing as the company would have liked in terms of pre-orders.
The data collected by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo speaks clearly:
While pre-orders for the entire iPhone 16 series totaled nearly 37 million units in its opening weekend, that’s a significant drop from the numbers the iPhone 15 series boasted when they first went on sale: a full 12.7 percent decline.

The disappointment is even more pronounced in the case of the iPhone 16 Pro (-27%), which is the model on which Apple has placed its greatest hopes. A decidedly subdued debut for the smartphone, as also confirmed by the drop in shipments: on the other hand, the latter are now decidedly more punctual precisely by virtue of the smaller number of requests to satisfy.
The situation is less dramatic for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, thanks to improvements in the production yield of the tetraprism cameras: even in this case, however, the data is down compared to last year (-16%). Values are up for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus (+10% and +48%), even though these are the two units from which Apple expects the least contribution in terms of market share.
