Your iPhone will soon give you more information when charging. With a new feature expected in iOS 18.2, you can see how long it takes for the battery to fully charge.
The new feature, called ‘BatteryIntelligence’, has arrived 9to5Mac discovered in the source code of iOS 18.2 beta 2. The test version was released to developers this week. The new feature is not yet active, but once it is, it will be able to calculate the time it takes to fully charge the iPhone. The estimate is made based on the amount of energy your device receives.
You can then receive a notification, for example when your iPhone is 80 percent charged. These insights can be useful if you want to coordinate your schedule around charging your device, for example if you have to leave the house quickly.
More battery features in iOS 18
The new charging time indicator is not the only thing Apple is adding to give iPhone users more control over the battery status. In iOS 18, for example, you can now also set the maximum charging limit to keep the battery healthy for longer. You will also receive a notification if your device is being charged with a slow charger.
Many innovations are coming
In addition to these battery improvements, iOS 18.2 also features other innovations, such as the new Genmoji and the ChatGPT integration. Furthermore, iPhone 16 models will receive Visual Intelligence with the update, a function that allows your iPhone to provide information about objects you photograph.
Another new feature in iOS 18.2 should make finding lost Apple devices a lot easier. You can then share Find My items with everyone via a special link. Apple plans to release iOS 18.2 in December.
Soon you will also be able to set Google Maps, Waze or any other navigation app as the default on your iPhone.
