The new iPhone SE 4 has the iPhone 14 look and some technical innovations. It seems that Apple’s budget iPhone is coming of age.
The rumor mill is bubbling: The iPhone SE 4 could come onto the market in the first quarter of 2025 and offer modern features in the design of the iPhone 14 – and at a comparatively affordable price. According to the latest leaks, the iPhone SE 4 represents the first significant design upgrade in the SE series.
Apple returns the 4.7-inch display with thick bezels and Touch ID in the home button iPhone SE 3 the back and instead uses a much more spacious 6-inch AMOLED display with a notch for Face ID and slimmer edges.
iPhone SE 4 thanks to A18 chip with Apple Intelligence
The heart of the new model is expected to be the Apple A18 chip, which is also in the current one iPhone 16 can be found. With a brightness of up to 800 nits, the display should be easy to read even in sunlight, although the refresh rate of 60 Hz is a bit low. But since Apple usually only uses 120 Hz displays on the Pro models, this isn’t really a surprise.
In terms of battery performance, a 3,279 mAh battery is installed, which according to rumors can be charged both via USB-C with 20 watts and wirelessly with 15 watts Qi2 and MagSafe. Apple is also probably taking the step of using its own modem. Whether this is a leap forward remains to be seen, but support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 is definitely a plus.
iPhone SE4: Is a Plus model planned?
But that’s not all: a recently surfaced dummy model confirms these specifications in a video and shows that the iPhone SE 4 actually has the same dimensions as the iPhone 14 at 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.8 mm. Contrary to earlier speculation, the new budget iPhone will probably not have an action button.
The Video shared by MacOtakara also shows a larger iPhone SE 4. This measures 6.7 inches and could hold the prospect of an additional Plus variant. However, not much is known about it yet. It remains to be seen whether Apple will actually pull another model out of its hat.
How much will the iPhone SE4 cost?
The iPhone SE 4 is expected to be priced between $499 and $549. This largely maintains the current price level of the previous model. This means the iPhone SE 4 could be an attractive choice without breaking the bank.
