iPhone SE 4, the rear design could be identical to that of the iPhone 16

The fourth generation iPhone SE could undergo a radical transformation, getting closer aesthetically and technologically to Apple’s flagship models. According to recent rumors coming from China, the Cupertino company has decided to use the same manufacturing process for the back frame for iPhone SE 4 and the standard iPhone 16 model.

Possible iPhone 16 designs

If confirmed, this feature would represent a significant change from previous speculation that the iPhone SE 4 would be based on a modified iPhone 14 chassis. Adopting a newer design could signal Apple’s intention to offer a most modern and competitive device in the mid-range market.

iPhone SE 4, identical design to iPhone 6 for the back cover

Among the most anticipated new features for iPhone SE 4 there would be the abandonment of Touch ID and the Home button in favor of Face ID and a display with a notchbringing the screen size from 4.7 to 6.1 inches. It is also expected to introduce a porta USB-C and the Action Button, further aligning the device with the features of high-end models.

A particularly interesting aspect concerns the photographic sector. The use of the same rear frame as the iPhone 16 could suggest the adoption of a dual camera setupa significant step up from the previously rumored single 48MP module. The iPhone SE 4 could therefore be enabled for spatial video recording compatible with Apple Vision Pro, a feature previously not planned for future budget devices.

Apple seems intent on keep the price of the smartphone competitivewith rumors suggesting a possible starting point of less than $500. The decision to unify the production process could also bring efficiency and cost benefits for Apple, allowing the company to optimize its supply chain and production. The smartphone is expected in spring next year, just a few months after the new flagship iPhone 16 series. For 2025, Apple could therefore renew its offering with completely new smartphones in all market segments.
