On Tuesday evening, there was a large-scale attack by Iran’s missile forces on the territory of Israel. Details are unclear at the moment, however, according to initial reports, a number of rockets passed through Israel’s defense system and hit their targets.
According to Iranian officials, this is a reaction to the killing of the leader of Hezbollah, however, Israel has been successfully weakening Iran’s strategic position for a long time, and this time it was clearly necessary politically to show strength in a way other than a pre-declared attack on low-risk targets.
Of course, there is talk from Israel of inevitable retaliation, which no one doubts, and which the United States will probably join.
Due to the situation in Gaza, Israel’s attacks against Lebanon and Yemen, and now the direct involvement of Iran, the entire region is in a situation it has not seen in decades. A wider escalation seems inevitable, and with it more civilian casualties.
