At least two Katyusha missiles were fired at a base hosting US forces near Baghdad International Airport, two Iraqi military officials told Reuters on Tuesday. Air defense intercepted the missiles, the two sources added.
According to them, the initial investigation showed that the attack only caused damage. The attack was not claimed.
Iraq hosts 2,500 American soldiers based on a partnership with the US. However, armed groups in the country, allied with Iran, repeatedly attack American troops in the Middle East. Attacks have intensified since the Gaza war began.
