INTERNATIONAL – An Iranian strike would cause conflagration in the Middle East. The United States warned this Tuesday, October 1, of an attack “imminent by ballistic missile” of Iran against Israel, warning that it would result in serious ” consequences “ for Tehran.

For its part, the Israeli army indicated that at present, Israel had not identified any aerial threat launched from Iran. At the same time, the IDF also announced that it had carried out a targeted strike on Beirut.

The Israeli army says it is “ready” to defend itself

“Our partners in the United States have informed us that they have detected Iranian preparations for missile attacks on the State of Israel (…)”said Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, IDF spokesperson in a televised message. But if necessary, the army “is ready to defend and attack”he added.

The warning comes shortly after Israel announced it had launched a ground offensive in southern Lebanon following a week of intense bombardment that left hundreds dead across the country.

After the devastating blow to Hezbollah, with the death of its leader Hassan Nasrallah, killed Friday in an Israeli strike near Beirut, Israel warned that the war was not over against the Iranian-backed movement.

Hassan Nasrallah’s death “will not be in vain”

Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said on Saturday that the death of Hassan Nasrallah “will not be in vain” and First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref warned that it would lead to « destruction » of Israel.

Tehran, which faces growing economic challenges as a result of international sanctions, has shown, relatively speaking, a certain restraint in the face of the conflict in Gaza, which pits Israel against another movement supported by Iran, Hamas. .

In April, Iran had already launched an unprecedented attack against Israel, in retaliation for a strike against its diplomatic mission in Damascus. Most of its missiles had been intercepted by Israel and its allies.
