In Israeli attacks last night on several areas in central Syria, at least five people were killed, 19 were wounded and fires were caused, Syrian state media reported.

In those attacks, Israel targeted a number of military locations in the central region, and Syrian air defense forces intercepted and shot down some of them, SANA news agency reported.

At least 19 wounded people, three of whom are in critical condition, were transported to the Masiyaf State Hospital in the western province of Hama, as well as the bodies of five killed people, said the head of the hospital there, Faisal Hajdar.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based organization that reports on the situation in Syria, said that one of the attacks was aimed at a scientific research center in Masyaf and other targeted locations were “Iranian militias and experts stationed to develop weapons in to Syria”, reports AP.

The Israeli army has not yet commented on these allegations.

Israel has been carrying out attacks on targets in Syria that it claims are linked to Iran for years, and since the start of the war with Hamas, these attacks have intensified.
