Israel confirms it is behind airstrikes in Yemen

Israel has confirmed on Saturday that it is behind several airstrikes against military targets in Yemen. In attacks that took place on Saturday, several rockets hit the port city of Hodeida.

A Houthi-controlled television channel, Al-Masirah, claims several were killed and that an oil depot at the port was hit.

The attack came after a Houthi militia drone hit a building in Tel Aviv on Friday, killing one person.

Israel military says Israeli warplanes “hit military targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime”.

– It was in retaliation for hundreds of attacks that have been directed at Israel in recent months, writes the Israeli military.

The Houthi rebels have previously claimed responsibility for attacks on Israeli cities. including Ashdod, Haifa and Eilat. The attack on Friday was apparently the first aimed at Tel Aviv.

– The blood of Israeli citizens has a price, says Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, who says that more attacks will follow if more attacks occur.

Gallant says the Iran-backed Houthis have attacked more than 200 times.

The Houthi rebels say their attack on Tel Aviv was an expression of solidarity with Palestinians fighting Israel in Gaza.

Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, says that the Yemen attack is also a warning to Iran.

– Israel’s military has today directed heavy blows against Iran’s terrorist group in Yemen. Iran supports, trains and finances the Houthi terrorists, says the Israeli defense minister.

– The time has come for the international community to maximize sanctions against Iran, he adds and emphasizes that the Houthis are directing many devastating attacks on trade routes and international shipping traffic.

– Iran is the head of the snake. It must be stopped now, says Katz.

The Houthis are an armed group belonging to the Shia Muslim minority in Yemen. The movement takes its name from the movement’s founder, Hussein al Houthi.

Since 2014, the Houthi movement has fought a civil war against Yemen’s government and today controls most of the country.

The movement declares itself part of the Iranian-led resistance against Israel, the United States and the West, along with Hamas and Lebanese Hezbollah.
