The statement indicated that the Israeli Air Force and IDF artillery support the Israeli army’s ground forces by carrying out “precision strikes” against military targets in the area. Operation Northern Arrows will continue in accordance with the assessment of the current situation and will go in parallel with the fighting in the Gaza Strip and other areas, the IDF emphasizes.

The fact that Israeli tanks are already in the area of the village of Rmeish was reported on Monday evening by the Arabic TV channels Al Arabiya and Al Hadath. Before that, there were reports that Israeli armored vehicles, under the cover of artillery and aviation, entered the border areas of Lebanon.

A few hours earlier, the IDF officially announced the creation of a closed military zone in northern Israel – in the area of the settlements of Metula, Misgav Am and Kfar Giladi. Almost simultaneously with this, it became known that units of the Lebanese army left their positions in the south of the country and retreated five kilometers inland.

On September 30, Israel warned the United States that it had decided to conduct a “limited ground operation” in southern Lebanon that would focus on destroying Hezbollah infrastructure along the border to “eliminate the threat” to residents of Israeli border regions. The Israeli side “has notified us that it has commenced limited operations targeting Hezbollah infrastructure near the border,” US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said Monday. “We had some discussions with them on this issue.” Miller stressed that the United States supports Israel’s right to self-defense.
