Israeli military operation in West Bank leaves one dead

At least one Palestinian citizen died on Wednesday after being shot by Israeli forces in the town of Tubas, north of Nablus in the West Bank, authorities in Ramallah said.

The Palestinian Authority’s Health Ministry said the fatal victim was 23 years old and was shot “by occupation forces” (Israel) in Tubas.

On the same occasion, two other people were injured.

According to the Wafa news agency, the victim was a Customs Police agent who was shot dead during an operation by Israeli special forces in the area.

Earlier, Palestinian authorities said a 30-year-old man had been killed in gunfire during an Israeli military operation planned on Tuesday in the city of Tulkarem.

In total, according to the Palestinian Authority, this Israeli operation – which began on Tuesday – has already resulted in the deaths of six people.

The Health Ministry has raised to 590 the new death toll from Israeli operations and settler attacks in the West Bank since October 7 last year, the date of the Hamas attack on Israel.

Hamas’ operation against Israeli territory left 1,200 dead.

Israel’s massive military response to Gaza has so far left more than 39,000 people dead, most of them civilians, according to Hamas, which controls the seaside enclave.
