The Jerusalem Post cited three different sources: The first completely denied the information, another source said there was no real information about it, while another source highlighted the disagreements within the military community surrounding the fate of the new Hamas leader. No source mentioned any specific assassination operation the IDF carried out to kill him.

There is a similar article in the Times of Israel, entitled: “Israel investigates unlikely possibility that Hamas leader Shinwar was killed in Gaza”

At the same time, as reported by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the Israeli security service is investigating whether Sinwar was injured or killed in one of the intense airstrikes on the Gaza tunnels, or whether he deliberately cut off contact to reduce the chances of being targeted.

In recent months, the IDF and Shin Bet have killed much of Hamas’ military leadership, including Mohammed Deif, Marwan Issa, and Ayman Nofal. Sinuar and his brother Mohammed remain wanted and the search for them continues.

Security officials told Haaretz that Israel bombed tunnels in areas where Sinwar is believed to be hiding. However, they noted that there is no clear indication that he has been injured or killed, as no remains have been found. There have been previous instances during the war where Sinuar broke off communication, the Israeli paper notes.

However, IDF sources clarify that there was no specific operation underway to “neutralize” Sinwar in Gaza.

Israel, however, is investigating the highly unlikely possibility that Hamas leader Yahya Shinuar is dead, following military intelligence, according to Israeli journalist Ben Kaspit.
