Israeli soldiers are seen on video throwing Palestinian bodies off a roof

The Israeli army killed seven Palestinians and wounded 11 others with bullets in the town of Qabatiya in Jenin governorate in the north of the occupied West Bank on Thursday during a 10-hour military raid, local sources reported early this morning. However, the images are making their way around the world in the form of outrage and anger.

Videos posted on social media show the moment when an Israeli soldier shoots the three Palestinians on a rooftop. In the footage, a soldier is seen pushing the body of one of them, which falls to the ground. The other two were thrown in the same way, according to the Palestinian agency. HE DIED. These images have also been shared by the same EFE Agency and in TVE.

Medical teams say Israel did not allow them to approach the victims until six hours after they were shot by the forces. “The bodies were then transported by an Israeli army bulldozer and are now in their possession,” local sources said.

In a second drone attack, the Israeli army killed a young man inside a vehicle, local sources confirmed last night, while three others died in clashes with troops. Hours earlier, soldiers had shot dead three other Palestinians stationed on a roof.

According to medical sources from the Palestinian Red Crescent, at least eleven other people were injured, four seriously, including a 16-year-old boy with a “very critical bullet wound” to the chest who was taken to hospital.

Panic among students at nearby schools and tear gas used against journalists

The military raid caused panic among students from nearby schools in Abu al Rab and Qabatiya, with about a thousand students evacuated by bus due to intense gunfire nearby. Local journalists also reported that soldiers fired tear gas at them.

“This is yet another failed attempt that will not break the determination of our heroic people or shake their firmness and commitment to the path of resistance,” Hamas said in a statement commemorating the dead, which it did not claim as its militants.

Jenin Governorate is one of the historic bastions of Palestinian armed resistance since the First Intifada in the 1980s. Israel justifies these attacks by killing members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad, but civilians and children are also killed in its incursions into occupied territory.

Israel continues to kill in the West Bank, where Hamas does not rule, and lets its settlers do it

In early September, the army launched one of the largest offensives in the West Bank in two decades, with simultaneous raids in Jenin, Tulkarem and Tubas, three cities in the north of the occupied West Bank, where they killed at least 34 people, including militants, but also civilians and several minors.

It is worth remembering that it is the Palestinian National Authority of President Mahmoud Abbas that governs this Palestinian territory under the iron control of Israel. For most of the international community that recognises the Palestinian State, including Spain, this is the only valid way to achieve a shared two-state solution. Israel has justified its invasion of Gaza with the pretext of destroying Hamas, after the brutal attacks of October last year.

So far in 2024, some 375 people have been killed in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, by Israeli fire; most of them militants or attackers but also civilians, including at least 61 children, according to the Israeli count. EFEAt least 108 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire, including drones, in Jenin Governorate alone so far in 2024, making it the hottest spot in the entire West Bank.
