Istanbul Airport does not lose the top spot in Europe

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated in the European Aviation Overview Report covering 4-10 November published by the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation that Istanbul Airport is the busiest airport in Europe with an average of 1,359 flights per day. Minister Uraloğlu said, “Our Istanbul Airport maintained its top place, leaving behind airports in European capitals such as London, Amsterdam and Paris. “Among the 25 global airports around the world, our Istanbul Airport ranked 9th.” he said.

Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that according to the air traffic statistics published in the European Aviation Overview Report published by EUROCONTROL on November 14, Turkey ranks 6th among the countries with the highest traffic volume in Europe with an average of 2 thousand 815 flights per day. Our success continued even during flight delays. When we examined the delay times per flight in EUROCONTROL airspace, our Turkish airspace became one of the most efficient airspaces in Europe with a delay time of just under 0.5 minutes per flight.” he said.

Minister Uraloğlu stated that Paris was the airfield with the highest delay with an average delay of 1.9 minutes and said, “While Seville had an average delay of 1.3 minutes due to increased air traffic, Lisboa and Barcelona had the highest delays with 0.9 and 0.6 minutes respectively. It was among the field control centers that experienced heavy delays.” he said.
