The study by the American company Inrix analyzed the situation in more than 900 cities in 37 countries on all continents. Of the top 100 cities analyzed, 69 recorded more traffic jams compared to 2023, with spectacular increases in Jakarta (+37%) and Bangkok (+17%), according to tf1info.fr.
In Europe, London leads the ranking with 101 hours spent in traffic, followed by Paris with 97 hours, Dublin (81 hours), Rome and Brussels.
A surprise comes from Germany, where the city of DĂĽsseldorf climbed 29 places in the ranking, going from 47th to 18th place, with an average of 11 hours more spent in traffic jams.
In contrast, some European cities have managed to improve their traffic situation. Leiden in the Netherlands dropped 24 places in the ranking and Birmingham in the UK dropped 15 places.
