Otlukbeli travertine dam lake in Erzincan hosts thousands of tourists every year. This lake, 7 kilometers away from the district, is a natural wonder with its red color and magnificent view.

According to İHA, the lake, which is located at an altitude of 1,885 meters above sea level, is approximately 7,500 square meters in size. The depth of the lake is 20 meters, its length varies between 150-160 meters and its width varies between 30-50 meters depending on the rainfall in the season.

There is no other example in the world

Being a travertine dam lake, this unique natural wonder contains plenty of mineral water.

Examples in the world are composed of karst sources such as limestone, gypsum, dolomite and rock salt. Otlukbeli Lake is known as a single travertine dam lake formed by mineral waters.

Described as a ‘natural monument’ with this feature, Otlukbeli Lake has been declared a natural protected area.

Both mineral waters and sulphur waters and fresh waters fed by the stream mix into the lake. It is said that the mineral waters in the lake are beneficial for rheumatic diseases, fractures and dislocations, and the treatment of gynecological diseases.
