At the Olympic tournament, exactly half of the tennis players from the current top ten in the world ranking will not appear. In addition to De Minaur, they are Jannik Sinner, Hubert Hurkacz, Andrej Rubľov and Grigor Dimitrov.

De Minaur also withdrew from the Grand Slam Wimbledon in July, where he was supposed to play in the quarterfinals against Serbian Novak Djokovic.

“I tried my best to be ready for the singles, but my body needs a little more time,” the 25-year-old said on Instagram.

The Australian, who was supposed to compete with the German Jan-Lennard Struff on Sunday, will be replaced by Francisco Cabral from Portugal. However, participation in the Olympics does not end for de Minaur, he will perform in doubles alongside Alexey Popyrin.

Two-time Olympic champion Andy Murray also withdrew from the singles tournament in Paris on Thursday. The Brit wants to focus on the doubles, in which he will play with Dan Evans. The information was brought by the Reuters agency.
