According to the board’s decision the settlement development and operating fund available for settlements in Tolna County is provided by sources 55, The separate development and operating fund of Paks is entitled to 40 percent of these tax revenues, and the investment fund of the county municipality to 5 percent.
The General Assembly created two more decrees on the local taxes of the special economic zone and the subsidies to be provided from it. Accordingly
the county government introduces business, land and building tax in the special economic zone.
Municipalities, institutions, civil organizations, and religious legal entities of the Tolna county settlements more directly affected by the investment can apply for the funds from the revenues, the Paks municipality can submit an individual application for support. The General Assembly’s Territorial and Urban Development Operative Program Committee decides on the support.
The background to today’s decision is that after the municipal elections of June 9, which resulted in the defeat of the mayor of Fidesz, the government declared the properties used for the investment to maintain the capacity of the Paks nuclear power plant (Paks II.) as a special economic zone with the decree published on July 31. According to the decree, Tolna can use 62.5 percent of the revenue from the zone’s local tax, and Bács-Kiskun county municipality can use 37.5 percent for the development of the settlements more directly affected by the investment, and for supporting the operations of organizations and settlements operating in the area.
MTI recalls that Attila Orbán (Fidesz-KDNP), the President of the General Assembly, spoke at a press conference on November 20 that this year, Tolna County’s income will be around HUF 1.6 billion, of which Paks can count on HUF 600 million.
