Motorists are expected to be able to take possession of the 780-meter tunnel of the M85 motorway in December. The test run before the handover is currently taking place, which had a spectacular element on Friday: an accident simulation took place, the Ministry of Construction and Transport (ÉKM) told MTI.

In the modeled situation, a pickup truck and a tanker transporting diesel collided in one passage of the tunnel. According to the assumption, several people were injured, some were stuck in their vehicles, diesel was leaking from the tank of the truck carrying the hazardous material. The task was to avert the emerging emergency situation.

The purpose of the exercise was to coordinate the work of the tunnel operator, the disaster management, the police and the ambulance service, and to make the accident prevention process as quick and efficient as possible. The exercise was completed successfully.
