In the north, level two snow warnings are in effect on Sunday, snow tongues and drifts may form in places. Stronger winds should be expected in western Slovakia, it can also blow in the mountains. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) reported about it on the website.

The second level snow warning is valid until midnight in the Prešov and Žilina regions. Another 15 to 20 centimeters of snow is expected. SHMÚ also warns against the formation of snow tongues and drifts, namely in the Banskobystrické, Trenčín, Košice, Prešovské and Žilina regions.
Wind warnings are valid until 18.00 in the Bratislava, Nitra and Trnava regions. It can blow in the mountains in the Banskobystricky, Prešovský and Žilina regions, where the warning is valid until midnight.
On the sections of highway D1 Liptovský Ján – Hybe and Važec – Bôrik, highway D3 Čadca – Skalité, R3 Sedliacka Dubová – Široká and the Trstena bypass and R4 bypass Svidník, there is slushy snow up to one to two centimeters thick on the road. The Slovak Road Administration (SSC) informs about this on its website zjazdnost.sk.
According to the SSC, all monitored highway sections and expressways on the territory of the Slovak Republic are passable, the surface of the roads is mostly dry to wet.
The roads of the first, second and third class are passable, the road surface is mainly dry to wet. “In mountainous areas, there is a layer of fresh, slushy or compacted snow one to three centimeters thick on the roads, sometimes up to four to five centimeters, on the roads in the districts of Bardejov, Svidník, Stropkov, Medzilaborce, Humenné and Snina up to five to ten centimeters. ” explained SSC. On the roadways of roads I/67 dept. Dedinky – Ostrá Skala, II/533 Gemerská Poloma – saddle Súľová, II/535 obb. Dobšiná – Palcmanská Maša and Úhornianske sedlo – Krásnohorské Podhradie is in places icy snow up to one centimeter thick.
Mountain passes (HP) are passable with restrictions, the road surface is mostly covered with fresh, slushy or compacted snow one to three centimeters thick. At HP Javorník and Huty within four to five centimeters, except HP Biela Hora, Dargov, Vyšehrad, Šútovce, Dobšiná, Havran, Klenov, Kremnické Bane, Pezinská Baba and Soroška where the road is dry to wet. At HP Štós, there is icy snow one centimeter thick in places.
SSC also warns drivers that snow chains are required for all vehicles on road II/584 Srdičko – Bystrá. Heavy snowfall with visibility up to 100 meters is in Kysucie and in the Štrba area. On HP Besník, tongues of snow are forming.
