It was a cross, but the most important thing is that the ball ended up where it should

Budućnost showed how it should deal with rivals whose quality is not high against Kosovo’s Mališeva.

The Blue and Whites knew what they wanted from the first minute of the second leg, they scored goals on time and fully deserved their place in the second round of qualification for the Conference League – after a 1:0 defeat in Podujevo, Ivan Brnović’s men won 3:0 under Gorica.

“Of course we are satisfied, especially when the score is 3:0… Mališeva proved to be a solid rival in the technical sense. We scored the first goal at the right moment, later in the second a great goal by Grivić, and then an even better one by Perišić who showed that he should be counted on,” said Brnović after the match for RTCG.

In the next round, Budućnost will play against Bulgaria’s CSKA 1948.

“Honestly, I don’t know anything about the CSKA 1948 team, that says enough about how much we prepared and only focused on Mališeva,” stressed the coach of Budućnost.

The expert who arrived at the stadium near Gorica at the end of last season knows that his team did a good job, but also that there is still work to be done.

“This is Buducnost, which trained for the first 20 days, after which we decided to play a bit more defensive football, but tonight it turned out that this is more suitable for us. Surely now a stronger rival is coming to us, so we will try to adapt… In every case, we showed that we can be seriously counted on – I can’t say that we played it at the European level, but we did more than solidly,” Brnović explained.

He announced the arrival of new faces.

“We will look to strengthen ourselves, because it is evident that we lack players in two or three positions – I expect it will get better and better”.

He didn’t forget the fans either.

“The audience cheered us up, I want to thank both the north and the west”.

One of the better players of our league, Dragan Grivić, showed on his debut in front of the Podgorica audience that he will be a great reinforcement for Budućnost, and as true athletes do, he was honest when it came to his spectacular goal from the right.

Shot or cross?

“Honestly, it wasn’t a shot, but an attempted cross, but thank God the ball went exactly where it should,” Grivić pointed out.

He said about the match.

“We knew that we didn’t play well in Kosovo, and we promised the fans and us that we would fix everything – we succeeded and deservedly went on,” concluded the former Sutjeska defender.
