It happened in Meta di Sorrento, in the province of Naples: the carabinieri arrested a 55-year-old. The owners, on the advice of the military, installed cameras in the house, framing their children’s babysitter.

They didn’t want to believe that the person responsible for the jewelery theft occurred in their home was right there baby sitter who they trusted and who took care of their children; yet, they had to surrender to the evidence of the images from the cameras installed in the house. The family for which the woman worked, a young couple, had hired her in the summer, as they were in need of a babysitter. The 55-year-old immediately gained the trust of parents and children but, last September, something disturbed the serenity of the house: unknown persons broke into the house and stole some jewels. It would seem like an isolated incident, but another jewel theft occurs in October.
For the police, the main suspect is the babysitter, but initially the owners of the house refuse to believe that the woman to whom they have entrusted their children could be capable of so much. In the end, however, they are convinced and, following the advice of the military personnel, they install cameras in the house without everyone knowing. And so, one afternoon, when the 55-year-old is alone at home, the cameras immortalize her while she opens the safe and takes some jewels. The police remotely witness the scene and in an instant they are already outside the house, waiting for the woman to come out with the stolen goods: the 55-year-old was thus arrested, while the stolen goods were returned to their rightful owners.
