It wasn’t time with family or exercise… What do you regret most this year?

The number one regret is “not investing”

A survey showed that people chose ‘not investing’ as their biggest regret this year.

Rental conversion (RX) startup Pripins and psychological counseling agency Hello Mile released the results of a survey on the topic of ‘My biggest annoyance this year’ in ‘This and That Research: Year-end Psychological Settlement’ on the 27th. Gummasae is a new word meaning to repeat like a parrot the phrase ‘I should have done’, an expression often used when expressing regret.

According to the survey, ‘I should have invested’ was ranked first, accounting for 28%, as the most regretted thing this year. This is interpreted to reflect the situation, with apartment prices in major areas of Seoul hitting new highs despite high interest rates and Bitcoin surpassing 100 million won for the first time in history.

In second place was ‘I should spend a lot of time with my family’ (20%), followed by ▲I should exercise (15%) ▲I should spend less (12%) ▲I should actively date (11%). In addition, there were responses that said ▲I would travel a lot (8%) and ▲I would study and read (6%).

When asked what score they would give themselves this year, 71% of respondents gave themselves a score of 70 or higher, showing a tendency to acknowledge their efforts and achievements throughout the year.

Looking at the specific rankings, the respondents who gave the score in the 70s were the largest at 35%, and those who gave the score in the 80s came in second place with 25%. Those who scored in the 70s to 80s accounted for more than half (60%). This was followed by ▲60 points (18%) ▲50 points or less (11%) ▲90 points (8%) ▲100 points (3%).

It was found that there was a clear difference between generations in the topics on which users who visited the psychological counseling center received counseling this year.

First, Generation Z (late 1990s to late 2000s) had many concerns about ‘self-care’ to find emotional stability and ‘respect for introversion’ to reduce energy consumption in social relationships and focus on oneself.

The millennial generation (early 1980s to mid-1990s) had a lot of counseling related to the ‘growth mindset’, which sees failure as a growth process, and the ‘bore-out syndrome’, where people feel skeptical about continuing to do work that is not suited to their aptitude.

Generation

The baby boomer generation (mid-1940s to mid-1960s) primarily focused on psychological counseling on ‘retrospection and reflection’ and ‘peace of mind’ to look back on past experiences, find meaning and learning in them, and maintain psychological peace. I achieved it.

This survey was analyzed based on survey data from 278 visitors to the Pripins website and Hello Mile Psychological Counseling Center from the 1st to the 20th.
