It will be (much) easier to get your money back with a card!

Only until November 10, our operators have time to adapt contracts with customers to the new Electronic Communications Act. This also applies to pre-paid customers.

Today, Orange informed its customers about new contracts, effective from November 10, but the changes are dictated by changes in the law, so they apply to customers of all operators and all customers of pre-paid offers in Poland should receive a similar message.

You can read the full text of the changes here link (pdf from the Orange website), but what particularly caught my attention was the section regarding refunds of unused funds in pre-paid offers.

What does it look like now? First of all, a customer who transfers a number from an offer to a card to another operator must know that he has such a right – not everyone knows this yet.

If he knows, then he must familiarize himself with the terms of this refund, depending on which offer he uses and which operator he transfers to. After learning these details, he or she must complete a refund application.

New procedure for returning unused funds in card offers

What will the new be like? It’s hard to even call it a procedure, because there’s an automatic system that doesn’t require submitting any applications, in other words – if you deserve a refund, you’ll get it back.

All you need to do is provide the operator with your account number after registering in the pre-paid offer:

The Operator allows the consumer, at any time after Registration, to provide the bank account number to which the remaining funds from top-ups are to be returned:

  • in person at the Orange showroom,
  • on the hotline,
  • after logging in to the My Orange application.

Providing a bank account number by the consumer is tantamount to submitting an application.

It should also be remembered that the refund to the indicated account will be made within 30 days of transferring the number to the new operator, provided that the amount on our existing account in the pre-paid offer is greater than PLN 20 – a handling fee for the operator for the refund.
