USR candidate for the Presidency Elena Lasconi declared that the cancellation of the first round of the presidential elections, as a result of the notifications submitted to the CCR, would be a serious violation of democracy, appreciating that democracy was already violated when a candidate – Diana Şoşoacă – was removed out of the race by the decision of the Constitutional Court.

“I think that if it were to happen (no – the cancellation of the first round of the presidential elections) this would be a serious violation of democracy, they have already violated democracy, they entered it with their boots on when they removed a candidate from the race, and I mean here at the Constitutional Court, because the state institutions did not do their job before”, said Lasconi, according to observatornews.ro.

She specified that all political parties made parallel counts and there is no difference between them and those made by the software, so there is no software problem, adding that this topic will be discussed on Thursday in the CSAT.

“It’s a respect for the vote, whether we like it or not, 2 million or so Romanians voted for this candidate”, emphasized Elena LAsconi, referring to her opponent ranked first in the polls from Sunday, Călin Georgescu.

The Constitutional Court is discussing on Thursday the two requests to cancel the first round of the presidential elections submitted by the candidate of the New Romania Party, Sebastian Popescu, and by the candidate of the Romanian National Conservative Party, Cristian Terheş.
