Italian Prime Minister Meloni will meet incoming President Trump

Rome/Palm Beach (USA) – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is on her way to meet President-elect Donald Trump, who will be inaugurated on January 20. According to the DPA agency, the Italian media reported on this with reference to informed sources.

According to the Italian media, Meloni will land in Florida today at 19:30 local time (Sunday 1:30 CET). He will then move to Trump’s private Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, where the president-elect has spent most of his time since his November election victory. Neither party officially confirmed the planned meeting to the media.

The two politicians spoke by phone in November shortly after Trump’s victory. According to a statement by the Italian government at the time, they expressed readiness to cooperate closely on all important international issues, including Russia’s war in Ukraine and the crisis in the Middle East, with the common goal of promoting stability and security.

Since 2022, when Meloni’s right-wing government came to power, the prime minister often meets with Elon Musk, the owner of the Tesla car company, the social network X or the company Space X, who is a close ally of Trump and will lead an unofficial “ministry” for effective government.

In December, the Politico news website called the Italian Prime Minister the most powerful European personality. According to him, Meloni, who was previously rejected as an ultra-nationalist, has established herself in less than ten years as a personality with whom Brussels and now Washington can cooperate.
