Tajani says that there should be equality in trade with China and that companies should be able to compete with each other on similar terms. He wants a positive trading climate for the two economic trading blocs, without dumping and obstacles from Beijing. Chinese Trade Minister Wang Wentao is also going to Brussels this week to talk to EU Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis. China wants the high import tariffs to be scrapped. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said last week that a compromise must be reached, otherwise a trade war with China could erupt. There is also resistance to the tariffs in Germany due to concerns about countermeasures by China on European cars. China has already said it will investigate the dumping of pork from Europe on the Chinese market. This could mean that tariffs will be imposed on pork from the EU. Beijing is also investigating the alleged dumping of European dairy products on the Chinese market.
