Jaguar is throwing five of its models in the trash

The F-Pace SUV is the only Jaguar that has a future with the brand, the others must go – that sums up the decision that the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Group CEO Adrian Mardell informed the company’s shareholders.

The XE sedan, XF sedan and station wagon, the F-Type sports car and the I-Pace electric SUV are all up for grabs, but – and this is the real surprise – even the E-Pace compact SUV didn’t hit the mark, so this is deleted from the company’s offer.

The background of the decision is twofold: on the one hand, space must be created for the incoming pure electric models, and on the other hand, it makes no sense to manufacture products that are of no use to the company. However, it is not clear when the doomed models will be discontinued.

Jaguar’s first new-generation battery electric vehicle will arrive in 2025, it will be preceded this year by a preliminary study, which, according to the news, is mainly (exclusively?) intended for the United States of America.

Jaguar is preparing to produce a total of three BEV models, all of which will be based on a new platform (Jaguar Electrified Architecture, JEA).

Before you think Jaguar is in trouble, we reassure you: Since 2015, the car manufacturer has not had such a bright year as 2023after a turnover of 29 billion British pounds, they realized a pre-tax profit of 2.2 billion.

JLR’s three most profitable models are the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Defender. They are not discontinued, in fact, they are constantly being developed. In the coming years, JLR will not only focus on the electric transition, but also transform its business strategy: they want to become a real luxury manufacturer.

Jaguar E-Pace

The company has already registered 39,000 requests for the new generation, purely electric Range Rover, even though its sales will not begin until 2025.

Another issue is that a favorable decision from Jaguar’s point of view could cause serious headaches for the suppliers: Magna Steyr in Graz, for example, as the manufacturer of the I-Pace and E-Pace, will lose a lot of income, especially because they also produced (would have) Fisker, which was permanently bankrupted this year brand’s leisure vehicle, the Ocean.
