Janet Andrewartha, star of Neighbours, Australia’s longest-running soap opera with a 37-year run, has died at the age of 72.

According to the BBC, the official Instagram account of the series shared the following message for the star: “Everyone at Neighbours is deeply saddened by the passing of Janet Andrewartha.”

Regarding the death of Andrewartha, who joined the series as Lyn Scully in 1999, the statement was made: “Janet, who was much loved by the audience as Lyn Scully, will be remembered for her wide range of acting.”

Jackie Woodburne, who played Susan Kennedy in the series, said of her co-star Andrewartha’s death: “Passionate, political, curious, extremely eccentric, generous and funny. He was a loyal friend to me for over 45 years. I will miss him every day.”

Stefan Dennis, best known for his role as Paul Robinson in the series, said: “I am so sorry to lose our dear Janet. She was a truly extraordinary actress who I truly enjoyed working with and being around. We will all miss you my dear girl.”

Andrewartha took part in productions such as Prioner, Embassy, ​​Moby Dick, as well as the series Neighbours.

The series, which aired for 41 seasons in Australia, brought Kylie Minogue, Margot Robbie, Guy Pearce and the Hemsworth brothers to fame.
