The summit meeting between Prime Minister Isiba and President Prabowo began with a welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Bogor, West Java Province, near Jakarta.
The Japanese government agreed to provide free high-speed patrol boats to promote cooperation in the field of security by utilizing the ‘Government Security Capability Enhancement Assistance (OSA)’ system, which supports the military of allied countries (countries that share the same values). The Japan-Indonesia 2+2 meeting was first held in 2015. New cooperation is materialized based on changes in the security environment. Cooperation in maritime security and talent development for the Indonesian military are also agreed upon.

Prime Minister Ishiba and President Prabowo also agreed on the need to strengthen cooperation to realize a ‘free and open Indo-Pacific’ based on the rule of law, keeping in mind China, which is strengthening its hegemonic movements in the East and South China Seas.
In the economic field, discussions were held on the ‘Asia Zero Emissions Community (AZEC)’, a cooperation framework for decarbonization by Japan and Southeast Asian countries, the promotion of infrastructure development, and support for the distribution of school meals, a key policy of the Prabowo administration. Opinions were also shared on cooperation for Indonesia’s goal of joining the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
At the summit on this day, since most Indonesians are Muslims, they also discussed the situation in the Middle East, including Israel’s attack on the Gaza Strip in Palestine.
