The gap narrowed even further in the MotoGP World Championship standings as Francesco Bagnaia managed to take victory in both races of the weekend and heads to Philip Island, Australia just 10 points clear of leader Jorge Martin

When the starting lights went out, Pedro Acosta took the first turn, but on the exit Francesco Bagnaia managed to get in front of him, with Brad Binder and Enea Bastianini following. Very good starts were made by Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin, who were in fifth and sixth place respectively.

The battles began immediately, with Martin passing Marquez and Bastianini together, Marquez attacking Bastianini but Miller passing them both, and eventually Marquez forcing his way past Bastianini after the exit of the first corner on the second lap.

On the fourth lap, Acosta dropped again, from second at turn 14, while at the same time Martin passed Binder, moving up to second. Shortly after, Marquez (who had already passed Miller) also passed Binder, moving up to third.

Bagnaia had begun to open up a gap on Martin, who in turn was consistently moving faster than Marquez. From the middle of the race onwards – once again – Bastianini had a very good pace and with 3 laps to go he was on Marquez’s tail in the battle for third place.

At the front the gap narrowed to just under a second, but it appeared to be simply a management gap by Bagnaia, who once again opened up his pace and took a comfortable victory at the Japanese Grand Prix, leaving Martin second.

In the end Bastianini was unable to impose himself on Marquez and – half a second behind him – settled for 4th, with the 8-time World Champion completing the podium.

Franco Morbidelli finished fifth, passing Brad Binder in the closing stages. The two Pertamina Enduro VR46 riders Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio followed, while Aleix Espargaro and Jack Miller rounded out the top ten.

Ducati once again dominated with the first 5 riding their bikes!
