Jarlner’s Comment: JD Vance found 19 loaded guns at his grandmother’s

J.D. Vance’s grandmother swore like a sailor. And after her death almost twenty years ago, he and the family found 19 loaded guns around her home. Because as she got worse, the grandmother would be sure to always have a gun within reach in case of intruders.

The Ohio US senator spoke tenderly and lovingly of his grandmother, Motherswhen the other day he was chosen as the vice-presidential candidate of the Republicans and Donald Trump.

He also spoke about the workers in his hometown of Middletown, Ohio, in America’s rust belt, where the family lived in the shadow of decades of globalization. In a city with social problems and closed steel mills and factories.

“Every time someone asked me what I would most like to change about the white working class, I said: The feeling that our choices make a difference,” he wrote ten years after his grandmother’s death in his bestseller ‘Hillbilly Elegy’.
