JD Vance emphasizes on the night of Tuesday Danish time that his previous statements about ex-president Donald Trump show that he “was wrong”.
– I said some bad things about Donald Trump ten years ago, and it is important to admit that I was wrong, says JD Vance, who was chosen as ex-president Donald Trump’s vice-presidential candidate on Monday evening Danish time.
JD Vance has previously called Trump “America’s Hitler”, but has since often taken the ex-president to his defense.
Back in 2016, when Trump won the presidential election, Vance called him an idiot and compared him to Adolf Hitler.
On Monday evening, Vance was formally nominated by the Republicans as the party’s vice presidential nominee.
According to the American media Fox, Vance is calling for an in-depth investigation into what preceded the assassination of Trump, which took place at a voter meeting on Saturday American time.
To the same media, the vice-presidential candidate says that he was skeptical of Trump in 2016, but that Trump later made him change his position.
The 39-year-old senator for the state of Ohio also states that “China is a bigger problem for the United States than the war between Russia and Ukraine”.
Donald Trump announced in a message on his social media, Truth Social, that Senator JD Vance had been chosen as the vice presidential candidate.
– After much consideration – and considering the tremendous talent of many others – I have decided that the person best suited to assume the office of Vice President is Senator JD Vance, Trump wrote.
– As Vice President, JD will continue to fight for our Constitution, stand side by side with our soldiers and do everything he can to help me “Make America Great Again,” Trump wrote, referring to his world-famous political slogan.
In 2022, Vance was elected as a senator for Ohio. Trump gave him his support during the election campaign.
The two had met in 2021, after which they became closer, Vance has said.
