Jimi Hendrix’s unreleased recordings will be auctioned

A series of previously unreleased songs Jimi Hendrix it will soon be auctioned off, and the lucky buyer will be the only person to have access to these historic recordings.

After Hendrix’s death, many recordings were discovered and albums composed of these materials were released posthumously. Although it has been 54 years since his death, it is now revealed that there are more secret recordings that will soon hit the market.

The new recordings date back to 1968 and feature previously unreleased versions of classic songs such as ‘Up From the Skies’, ‘Ain’t No Telling’, ‘Little Miss Lover’ and ‘Stone Free’. While these songs have been adored for decades, the 1968 demos promise to be significantly different from the familiar versions.

This collection, including the tape which is expected to fetch as much as £200,000 at auction, is currently owned by Patricia ‘Trixie’ Sullivan. At the height of Hendrix’s career, she worked as a personal assistant to his manager, Mike Jeffery.

After Jeffery’s death in 1973, creditors raided his office in central London and took everything they deemed valuable. However, they left behind 50 rare tapes that contained material by Hendrix, The Animals and Soft Machine.

Sullivan has owned these recordings for the past 51 years, and they were rediscovered earlier this year.

The auction will also include many other Hendrix-related items from Sullivan’s collection, such as dry cleaning receipts and pay slips for The Jimi Hendrix Experienceas well as an eviction notice from Ringo Starr’s apartment after complaints from neighbors.

The auction will take place on November 15 under the auspices of Propstore and will be streamed live. Mark Hochman, music consultant for the auction house Propstore, told the The Guardian that a person who buys Sullivan’s items will get “the privilege of having their own Jimi Hendrix songs that only they can listen to.”

He continued: “They are much more refined and polished. More guitar can be heard, which of course is what Hendrix was known for. Experts who have heard the recordings agree that they are far superior to all other versions of these songs.”
