Jin Yucheng, the youngest member of the Chinese team born in 2004, succeeded in advancing to the semifinals for the first time in a world competition.
In the quarterfinals of the 2024 Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance World Baduk Masters held at the Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Global Campus in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 16th, he won 100 won in 202 moves against 9th Dan Xu Zayang.
Jinwicheong 8th dan, who participated in the integrated preliminaries, received attention by defeating Japan’s 9th dan Yuta Iyama in the preliminary finals and advancing to the finals. In the finals, he defeated 9th dan Seol Hyeonjun, 9th dan Shibano Doramaru, and even 9th dan Xu Zayang to advance to the semifinals.
Dang Yifei, 9th dan, also joined the semifinals by defeating 9th dan Li Xuanhao, who was considered the favorite, in 224 moves. This is the fifth time Dan Yifei, 9th Dan, who has won world competitions once and runner-up twice, has participated in the Samsung Fire & Marine Cup finals.
The next two quarterfinal games will be held at noon on the 17th. Korea’s 9th Dan Shin Jin-seo will compete with 9th Dan Ding Hao, winner of the previous year’s competition, to advance to the semifinals, while 9th Dan Lian Xiao and 9th Dan Sheke will face off against brothers.
