Job creation accelerates in October with an increase of 134,307 workers

The creation of jobs intensified in October, with an increase in the number of workers of 134,307 people, the highest record in the historical series, except for 2021, with the rebound in post-pandemic employment. Regarding unemployment, it increased as usually happens this month, but less than usual, by 26,769 people.

The final balance after the movements of the month of October leaves a total of 21,332,513 people working affiliated with Social Security, the highest record for this month.

On the other hand, the total number of unemployed people registered at public employment offices stands at 2,602,054 people, at 2008 levels, at the beginning of the financial crisis.

After several months of slight slowdown in job creation, which nevertheless remains high, this month of October has experienced a greater boost in affiliation. If we look at the seasonally adjusted data, which isolates employment from the fluctuations typical of seasonality, in October there was an increase of 67,772 working people, well above the 22,200 in September and those in the summer (at most 30,000 people).

On the other hand, when looking at what has happened in the last 12 months, the pace of job creation also accelerates, reaching almost 2.5%, compared to 2.3% the previous month. Thus, the balance of job creation in the last year once again exceeds half a million people: 514,856.
