President Joe Biden has pledged to ensure that all funds approved for Ukraine are disbursed before the end of his term in office, in a strong gesture of support for Kiev in the context of the upcoming US presidential election.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with American leaders to bolster American support for his country’s fight against Russia, as the war faces a partisan assessment in this year’s presidential election, the AP notes.
Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, has vowed to continue sending military aid to Ukraine if elected. She will have her own meeting with Zelenskiy after the Ukrainian leader meets with President Joe Biden, who has announced billions of dollars more for missiles, drones, ammunition and other materials. The weapons include an additional Patriot missile defense battery and a new hovercraft carrier that can be dropped by Western fighter jets, increasing their range.

Regarding US support for Ukraine, Trump complained: “we keep giving billions of dollars to a man who refuses to make a deal” to end the war.
