Jony Ive (ex-Apple) confirms new project with OpenAI

Former Apple designer Jony Ive has confirmed that he is working with OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman on a new AI startup. Rumors have been circulating about this for some time.

Working with Ives’ company LoveFrom, the company is developing a product that uses AI to create a computing experience “that is less socially disruptive than the iPhone.”

Industrial designer Marc Newson, who works with Ive, says production details have not yet been released. However, the new company is already raising funds and aims to raise $1 billion by the end of the year.

The company employs just 10 people in San Francisco, including Tang Tan and Evans Hankey, who worked at Apple on the iPhone.

So far, AI devices have not been a success. Humane’s AI Pin, also developed by former Apple employees, has no screen and is mainly operated by voice. The device works poorly: it does not listen well to commands, responds late or incorrectly, and becomes red-hot. This spring, Humane was already in the shop window.
