JouwWeb doubled again, to 200,000 customers

Every year and a half, website platform JouwWeb from Eindhoven manages to double its customer base. Thanks to international growth, the counter recently exceeded two hundred thousand.

Director and founder Wouter Twisk tells Emerce that Germany and France in particular are responsible for the continued growth. But small entrepreneurs and novice roadside retailers also find their way to his service in the US and Canada.

On the international market, JouwWeb goes through life as Webador.

The team of forty people operates in an internationally competitive market. Other companies where smaller entrepreneurs build and maintain their sites include Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, WordPress and Weebly.

Squarespace was taken private last week by investor Permina, which paid $7 billion for it.

JouwWeb cannot compete with these types of parties in terms of features, but Twisk continues to receive recognition for the accessibility of its service. And the approachable, responsive customer service. Despite the expansion of the customer base, a customer in Eindhoven is not just a number.

“AI offers many possibilities, but that is precisely why it is important for us to maintain focus. You can’t just make everything that is possible, but you have to think about what is important to our customers.”

He does not make any precise statements about the retention rate. Visual: “Once they get through the first year and experience the benefits we offer customers, they will stay for a long time and become increasingly positive.”

“How are we going to double again in the next year and a half? We don’t know exactly, but it starts with continuing to challenge ourselves with that question in mind.”

JouwWeb reached 20,000 customers in June 2019, 50,000 in January 2021, 100,000 in January 2023 and now in September 2024 the 200.000.
