Jubo League leader escaped from police custody in Lohagara

An accused named Saiful Islam (33) escaped from Lohagara police custody. The incident happened around 9:30 am on Monday (September 9).

The accused is the son of Nazeer Ahad of Bolipara of Kalaujan Union of Kalaujan Union of Saiful Upazila and a local Jubo League leader.

Locals said that during the Awami League government, Jubo League leader Saiful harassed the common people of the area in various ways. After the fall of the government, Saiful went into hiding.

Locals arrested Abdul Alam from his house in Bahadur Para on the south side of Banglabazar in the same union on the basis of secret news early Monday morning. Later it was handed over to the police. The police understood the accused and asked the locals to leave. After some time, the locals came to know that the accused Saiful had escaped from the police custody.

Local Touhidul Islam Arafat, Touhid and Md. Several people, including Mofiz, said that during the Awami League government, the people of the area were fed up with the torture of Jubo League leader Saiful. There are several cases against him. The locals arrested Saiful and handed him over to the police station. They claim that Saiful managed to escape with the help of the police.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Satkania police station Shibli Noman Pulim confirmed the fact that the accused escaped from custody and said that the police is conducting an operation to arrest the escaped accused.
