13 accused including 10 ministers, advisers, secretaries of the former Awami League government arrested in July-August genocide case have been produced before the International Criminal Tribunal. Abdur Razzak will not appear in the tribunal today as he is on remand in a case.
They were produced on Monday morning.
Those who are being presented are – former minister Anisul Haque, Shajahan Khan, Lt. Col. (retd.) Farooq Khan, Dr. Dipu Moni, Golam Dastgir Gazi, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haque Inu, Junaid Ahmed Palak, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Taufiq-e-Ilahi Chowdhury, Salman F Rahman, former Justice HM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, former Home Secretary Jahangir Alam.
Earlier, on October 27, Chairman Justice Md. approved the application to show the arrest of these accused in the case of genocide. Ordered to appear before a three-member tribunal headed by Ghulam Mortuza Majumdar.
On that day, Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam said that the Chief Prosecutor will be the plaintiff in all cases of genocide in the International Criminal Tribunal. Complaints brought to us by people or victims’ families are only information. These data are received by the investigating agency, after which a report is prepared after review. When that report is given to the Chief Prosecutor, the Chief Prosecutor applies to the court for the issue of arrest warrant. Three miscases have been made till date. In the first miscase, Sheikh Hasina and in the second miscase Obaidul Quader and other cabinet members have been included and in the third miscase, police members have been included.
