Junts questions whether there will be general State budgets this year

The general secretary of Junts, Jordi Turull, questioned this Tuesday whether there will be general state budgets this year. He did so at an informative breakfast in Barcelona organized by Nueva Economía Fórum. “We will not negotiate a budget if compliance with the current one is not proven,” highlighted the post-convergent leader, who then stressed that the execution data “are not encouraging.” “We will not do another act of naivety in the face of announcements of millions of dollars,” he concluded.

For weeks now, JxCat has been demanding mechanisms to compensate for low execution, with a check and a direct transfer to the Generalitat with the money not executed or with compensation and forgiveness of the regional debt from the Regional Liquidity Fund (FLA). In this regard, Turull has disgraced the president of the Generalitat, the socialist Salvador Illa, for not raising his voice regarding the low execution.

In fact, before preparing the general budgets, it is necessary to approve the spending ceiling and the stability path. In July, JxCat overturned the proposal that the Treasury brought to the Congress of Deputies and demanded modifications, so that the distribution of the deficit margin between the different public administrations is more equitable. In autumn, the Government approved the same numbers at a meeting of the Council of Ministers but did not take them to the Lower House and then opened the door to modifying them to convince the post-convergents. However, JxCat has not received any other proposals to date.

Regarding the budgets of the Generalitat, Turull has stressed that what they will not do is “secure with wedges” the Illa executive, whom they consider the antithesis of the Junts political project. In any case, the leader of JxCat has asked the Catalan president to fulfill his commitment and register the Catalan accounts project in the Parliament.

On the other hand, the Congress Board will resolve on Thursday an issue that may mark the future of the Spanish legislature, the initiative registered by Carles Puigdemont’s party in response to the Moncloa’s non-compliance. The post-convergent formation does not give in and warns the socialists, who in the governing body of the institution have a majority along with Sumar, that they will not like the consequences that would be triggered by overthrowing the initiative that the post-convergent group registered in December, a proposition not a law in which the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, is required to submit to a question of confidence.

“What happens on Thursday is not harmless and is not minor,” the general secretary of Junts said this Tuesday. “If they do not process it, it means that they do not see themselves capable of ensuring trust,” he highlighted. ”It’s two months. If they do not process it, it means that they do not see themselves capable of restoring trust, and if that is the case and they do not comply, decisions will have to be made that the PSOE will not like,” he pointed out in relation to the meeting of the permanent leadership that has been held. convened in Brussels on Friday, a day later, after which Puigdemont will appear before the media. “On Friday we will make decisions,” he concluded later.

In relation to the motion of censure that the leader of the Popular Party, ALberto Núñez Feijóo, wants to promote to oust Sánchez from Moncloa, for which he requires the support of JxCat, the general secretary of the post-convergents has referred to it as “ macabre joke” and has ruled out supporting a motion of censure alongside PP and Vox. In that sense, he has emphasized the fact that the far-right formation led by Santiago Abascal has acted as a popular accusation against the independence leaders. “If you have lost trust with someone you have an agreement with, imagine someone you don’t have an agreement with,” he noted.

In his speech he also referred to the transfer of immigration powers to the Generalitat that socialists and post-convergents negotiated. Turull has indicated that progress has been made, although there is still no agreement because the two parties remain stuck “on two issues or two and a half issues” which in the words of the sovereigntist leader mark the difference between managing and carrying out procedures or deciding and doing politics. “We do not want an agreement that is formal but not comprehensive due to haste. For management to be effective it has to be comprehensive,” he insisted.
