British police have arrested two men after environmental activists sprayed orange paint on a section of the US embassy building in south London. The gesture was a protest against Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election, according to Reuters.
The two activists, who are part of the Just Stop Oil group, sprayed orange paint on the wall of the embassy, according to a video posted by them on the X platform.
“Trump’s victory puts the lives of ordinary people everywhere at risk,” Just Stop Oil said.
“This activity is an act of vandalism”
London’s Metropolitan Police arrested the two men, aged 25 and 72, on suspicion of criminal damage, according to authorities.
“This activity is an act of vandalism masquerading as a protest and we will continue to have a zero tolerance attitude towards such actions,” Deputy Commissioner Andy Valentine said.
Just Stop Oil activists have organized numerous major protests in the UK, including disrupting sporting and theater events and throwing soup at Van Gogh paintings.
